The Generalist supports a full range of generalist human resource functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, health and safety, training, benefits, compensation, and special projects.  In addition, this position will work closely with our People Operations Manager and Supervisory Team to implement policies, programs, and processes to enhance the overall employee experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as primary advocate for employee relations for manufacturing associates, proactively working to develop relationships, identify and resolve areas of concern and promote a positive, open, and inclusive work environment.
  • Support all talent acquisition activities for manufacturing associates and salaried non-exempt staff, including daily management of temporary workforce, and assists People Operations Manager with other employee life-cycle activities as required.
  • Administer the full cycle leave of absence process (FMLA and Worker’s Compensation).
  • Serve as department representative on Safety Committee and assist plant manager with coordinating safety compliance training and activities.
  • Manage data input and integrity within HRIS (ADP), and supports leadership needs for reporting and metrics.
  • Coordinate employee notifications and meetings for various benefit programs.
  • Support, and at times lead, various employee engagement events.
  • Assist with special projects.
  • Evaluate and propose new approaches, policies, and procedures for continual process improvement in efficiency of department and services performed.

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS, EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Possess a broad understanding of Human Resource functions and procedures.
  • Ability to regularly engage employees on production floor to build relationships and drive positive employee relations.
  • Proven capability to effectively manage conflicts and collaborate and communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, decision making and judgement skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion while managing confidential information.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Federal, State and Local employment laws and practices including EEO, AA, FMLA, ADA, Worker’s Compensation and OSHA.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook, HRIS & payroll systems (ADP preferred), as well as other HR related technology (i.e., recruiting platforms).
  • Ability to be organized, flexible, adaptable, and multi-task in fast-paced organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Human Resources, ideally with at least two (2) years directly supporting manufacturing operations.
  • Basic knowledge and experience with payroll and benefits administration preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) proficiency helpful, but not required.
