Facilities Maintenance Specialist-Advanced

Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs is recruiting for a Facilities Maintenance Specialist-Advanced, to serve as a member of the Facilities & Grounds team that keeps the Home operational, safe, and looking good. WVHUG is a 24/7/365 skilled nursing long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Buildings/Grounds Supervisor at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove (WVHUG), this position performs maintenance and repairs to building mechanical equipment including fire alarm systems; performs advanced-level electrical and plumbing maintenance and repairs; and performs maintenance and repair to heating-ventilation-air conditioning (HVAC) units, controls, steam lines, valves, and associated equipment. The incumbent independently troubleshoots, diagnoses, and determines alternatives for repair or solves the issue directly, and maintains, repairs, and performs minor remodeling projects to the building structural components, grounds, and paved areas. In all activities the use and coordination of contractors may be required. 

Starting wage is $25.57 per hour, plus an attractive employee benefits package. Additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. The position works Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a monthly weekend rotation and early arrivals for snow removal.
