COMMUNITY EVENT: Open House Racine County
Your Racine County adventure starts Saturday, May 5 with the third annual Open House Racine County - a free exploration of nearly 60 interesting places.
Among the new sites for 2018 are the Modine-Benstead Observatory in rural Yorkville, the historic DeKoven Center overlooking Lake Michigan, Gateway Technical College's SC Johnson iMET Center and Putzmeister America, a manufacturer of huge truck-mounted concrete pumps in Sturtevant.
Visitors to Open House Racine County will also have access to popular sites from last year's event, including the world-renowned Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Wingspread home in Wind Point, the Chocolate Experience Museum in downtown Burlington and Oak Clearing Farm (featured on the cable TV show "American Pickers") near Union Grove.
Most locations will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Specific times, location descriptions and photos are on the website www.OpenHouseRacineCounty.com. Look for the Open House Racine County banner outside each location. Visitors will be greeted by representatives from each site.
OHRC is presented by Real Racine, Racine County's destination marketing organization. Major sponsors are: Travel Wisconsin, Wisconsin Public Radio and Magnum Media - parent company of Racine radio stations WRJN and WVTY-FM (91.2 FM The Shore).
