DESCRIPTION:The Sons of Norway invite all RAMAC members to learn about Scandinavian history in Racine County.\n\n\n\nHistoric Norway Lutheran Church\, Colonel Heg Graveside talk\, \n\nand Museum & Norwegian Boat \n\n\n\nOur September Lodge event will be held at Col. Heg Park out in the Town of Norway. The day will begin with a graveside talk by Member David K. Miller about Col Hans Christian Heg who died while serving in the Civil War.  Col Heg was a Norwegian immigrant\, a noted abolitionist\, and best known for leading the Scandinavian 15th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment for the Union Army.   \n\n\n\nNext\, we will proceed to the Historic Norway Lutheran Church for a tour given by neighbor Jean Jacobson.  We'll then visit the Norwegian Museum in Col. Heg Park\, which has a boat that was donated by Nordlyset Lodge member Bill Schalk's family.\n\n\n\nFollowing the day's events\, everyone is welcome to join us for lunch.  If the weather is good we'll eat in the Pavillion next to the Museum:  bring your own sandwiches\, and we'll donate the drinks and dessert.  If the weather isn't good\, we'll meet down the road at Crossover Cantina & Eatery on Hwy 36 (28023 Kramer Road\; pay on your own).  We look forward to seeing you!

LOCATION:Historic Norway Lutheran Church 6504-6488 S Loomis Road (Heg Park Road) Waterford\, WI The Church is located off of Hwy 36\; just south of Wind Lake. Look for the Historical Marker signs and the church on top of the hill. If using a navigation map\, type: Historical Marker 129: Old Muskego. We'll meet at Col. Heg's gravesite at 11 a.m.
